Growing up on the civically active Iron Range of Minnesota, Tara realized at a young age that being involved in local and state government wasn’t just important, it was necessary.
She started at the Capitol in 2000 as a journalist with KARE 11 working for then political reporter Kerri Miller. She was lucky enough to be a member of the Capitol Press Corps during Governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura's one term as Governor. After a few yearsr, she switched gears because her interest in shaping public policy outweighed her desire to write about it.
Tara brings unparalleled depth to the field of public affairs with a unique blend of storytelling expertise and legislative acume. Tara spent over 20 years lobbying at the Minnesota Capitol and became a trusted advocate, building strong relationships with policymakers and navigating complex legislative landscapes with precision and strategy.
This combination of media savvy and legislative experience positions Tara as an exceptional public affairs professional, capable of driving impactful strategies that influence public opinion, shape policy, and deliver results.
In her spare time, Tara loves spending time with her sons, James and Jonathan, walking Monty and Wally, her two rescue dogs. She also loves foraging, cooking, theater, boating on the St. Croix, listening to live music at First Ave, spending quality time in the woods or wandering around Manhattan.
